The act of writing is a solitary one. Still, transforming your words into a book requires a community. I would not be sitting here today holding my book without these people. My heartfelt thanks go out to the following:

My Writing Group – They have read every version – the long, rambly one, the short one, and the final one. They gave critical and insightful feedback that helped shape this story into what it is today. When I showed them a few sample pages testing the idea of illustrating the book myself, they gave me the confidence to move forward. Thank you, Helen, Skye, and Parker!

Pam C. – Years ago, my friend Pam told me, “You’ll probably use your artwork to illustrate a book someday.” Ever insightful, she was right; it just took me a while to understand it myself. 

Judith – We’re fortunate to have a picture book lover and former teacher as a babysitter. Judith read a few drafts and critically looked at one of the proofs. She has championed the book locally and believes in the story. 

Antonio – For the encouragement and asking me to record myself reading the story — it forced me to hear it differently.

Pam L. – For the coffee dates, that is a lovely gift and connection to my mom. For reading and editing and cheering me on. 

My Family – For all the Cape Cod memories that inspired this story.

My Dad – For the support and encouragement and ALL the marketing ideas

My Kids – For listening as I read Golden Hour out loud over and over again. For being models, photographers, and the best fan club, a mom could ask for.
