Meet Ally
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was a little girl. I fondly remember writing stories with my mom and then illustrating them with bits of fabric and old buttons. My first story was published in New Hampshire’s statewide newspaper, The Union Leader, when I was in 6th grade.
I studied English/Journalism in college and spent a magical summer as a reporter waaay up North in Ellsworth, Maine. From there, I began my career in marketing and communications. As a result, over the past two decades in my work as a marketing director, I’ve written everything from radio ads to press releases to feature articles and speeches for executives (including the jokes!).
Along the way, I learned graphic design and discovered that I really like not only writing the words but also making the words and images work together on the page.
For me, writing is the thread that connects it all.
What I love to write most are personal essays, poems, and, more recently, kidlit. I usually start writing on paper before sitting at my Mac laptop to turn my scribbles into something worth reading.
I’m fortunate to be a former summer visitor celebrating her 10th year of calling Cape Cod home. It’s an incredibly beautiful and inspiring place to live, and I love exploring all the Cape offers with my husband and two children.
My debut children’s book, GOLDEN HOUR: A CAPE COD STORY, is out now! This lyrical love letter to the Cape, tells the story of my family’s ritual of watching the sunset over Cape Cod Bay and includes my original art.
My writing has been featured on numerous websites and print publications and included in three anthologies.
